Additional Notes

Took a while but I found it! The file is MicroSolutions newest (as of 6/11/03) general-purpose driver file. It supports the USb to SCSI adapter that comes with the devices. All I needed to do was to extract the files and point the device manager to the driver (no nasty setup programs). If you need to install the backpack itself (I don't have this), you may need to run setup, but I doubt it (you hardly ever have to, really).

Enjoy!

"Installed, but didn't operate the backpack. It detects the usb as a parallel LPT1, but that's all it does.

Pretty much useless.

"These files have been superceded by PNP407D.exe

Only use these if the later files do not work with a earlier version of Windows 9X."

How to Open Device Manager

  • In Windows 8, swipe up from the bottom, or right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose "All Apps" -> swipe or scroll right and choose "Control Panel" (under Windows System section) -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager

  2. Select the Driver tab.

  3. Click the Update Driver button and follow the instructions.

In most cases, you will need to reboot your computer in order for the driver update to take effect.

Tech Tip: Driver downloads and updates come in a variety of file formats with different file extensions. For example, you may have downloaded an EXE, INF, ZIP, or SYS file. Each file type has a slighty different installation procedure to follow.
